The Executive Director of EDUWATCH Mr. Kofi Asare has disclosed that scoring D7 and E8 in WASSCE is not the end of formal education journey. He stated that D7 and E8 score in WASSCE can still send an interested and willing student to the University.

Guiding WASSCE graduates, he directed them on a path to secure admission. However, according to his submission on the topic, he stated that the said scores are accepted as admission requirements in Technical Universities hence, he urged students and parents to make a thorough research about Technical Universities and enroll their wards.

YOUR WASSCE D7 AND E8 CAN STILL SEND YOU TO UNIVERSITY

If you did not score A1-C6 in the WASSCE, you can still enter university to read a programme that is market relevant.

Inquire from the nearest Technical University about the following programmes:

a. Higher National Diploma (HND): Many HND programme in Technical Universities accept D7 in Core but at least C6 in your relevant electives. After a 3-Year HND, you can do a Degree Top-Up.

b. Access Pre-HND: If you have a E8 in your Core and 3 relevant electives, you can enrol under a 1-Year Access Pre-HND programme in a Technical University, after which a successful completion transitions you into a 3-Year HND programme.

The HND programmes here are mainly STEM. They include:

  • Interior Design and Technology
  • Civil Engineering
  • Agric Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Nursing Technology
  • Medical Laboratory Technology
  • etc

The academic fee ranges from GHC 1,200 to GHC 2,000 a year depending on the Technical University.
