Ghana Education Service (GES) hasĀ  directed all MMDEs to issue Promotion/Up-grading letters to Teaching and Non-teaching staff of the lower ranks within the Service. The release also directed that up-grading letters to Principal Grade must be issued by Regional Directors.

The release dated January 2, 2025 on this topic was signed by Mrs. Angela Frimpomaa Nkansah (Ag Director, HRMD) for Director-General.

The notice directs all District/Municipal/Metropolitan and Regional Directors to issue upgrading/promotion letters to all successful candidates within their respective directorates.

“All MMDEs are to issue Promotion/Up-grading letters to Teaching and Non-teaching staff of the lower ranks within the Service while Up-grading letters to Principal Grade must be issued by Regional Directors.”

“In issuing the Promotion/Up-grading letters, kindly ensure that:

1. The date of submission of application for up-grading, should be the notional effective date. The effective substantive date is 1st September, 2024 and the letter should be duly signed by the Director.

2. The notional effective date for outstanding promotion of lower ranks, should be a date after the promotion exercise and the substantive effective date should be 1st September, 2024.

3. Copies of letters issued must be compiled and submitted with a list to HRMD Division, Headquarters, through the Regional Office.

4. A copy of the signed letter must be kept on the employee’s file.
