The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has honoured Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh with Honourary Doctor of Humane Letters (DHL).
According to reports, the former Minister of Education was conferred with Honourary Doctor of Humane Letters (DHL) by the university for his tremendous work as Education Minister in the first term of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration.
The presentation was made on Saturday, 24th July, 2021 as the Minister joined His Excellency the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for the 13th Congregation of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
The Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Abednego F.O Amartey said, the former Minister who served between January 2017 and January 2021 has contributed positively towards the development of the University hence deserves the honour conferred on him.
In an acceptance speech, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh traced the influence on his life and love for learning at an early age and recounted some of the successes his team chalked at the Ministry of Education, including the implementation of the free Senior High School (SHS) programme as well as curriculum, teacher and TVET reforms among others.
He also paid tribute to the many individuals in the education sector whose hard work and dedication enabled them to achieve those feats.
Dr. Prempeh is grateful to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve as his Education Minister in his first term.
The Minister also extended his appreciation to the UPSA Council and the entire UPSA community for the beautiful honour done him.
