Veep position is not about economists but, the ability to lead and solve problems – Prof. Opoku-Agyemang

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has broken his long overdue silence on critics over her low economists background as a running mate.

Over the years, the major political parties thus; National Democratic Congress and New Patriotic Party have appointed an economists as the Vice Presidential candidate into general elections.

This has become a norm for majority Ghanaian political parties to select a person who has a fair knowledge and good standing in economists as Vice Presidential candidate.

The appointment of the former Education Minister professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has been criticized by a section of Ghanaian citizens especially the ruling New Patriotic Party on the basis that, she has a little knowledge on economists since the Veep position is for persons who must have outstanding knowledge on economists to adequately manage the Economic Management Team and finances of the country.

According to John Dramani Mahama’s running mate, the Vice Presidential position is not about economists but, the ability to lead and solve the hydra-headed problems confronting the country.

Responding further, professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang said, managing the economy is about enhancing the quality of human lives and it’s not about being an economists.
