Vice-Chancellor of University of Cape Coast receives University of West Indies delegation

Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), recently hosted Prof. Clive Landis, the Principal and Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Barbados, and his accompanying delegation. The purpose of their visit was to strengthen the academic ties between UWI and UCC.

During the meeting, Prof. Landis highlighted the development of an articulated BSc Pre-Clinical – MB ChB medical degree program at UWI. This program was the result of a collaboration between UWI and the University of Ghana.

Prof. Landis expressed the UWI’s interest in establishing a similar collaborative arrangement with the University of Cape Coast.

In response, Prof. Boampong warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed UCC’s willingness to collaborate with UWI on the articulated medical degree program.

He emphasized that the College of Health and Allied Sciences at UCC possessed the necessary expertise to support UWI in this endeavor.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss various topics of mutual interest. The accompanying delegation included Dr. Damian Cohall, the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences; Dr. Jeanese Badenock, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology; and Dr. Kenneth Connel, the Deputy Dean of Recruitment and Outreach at the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
