Video: Gov’t took away Rawlings’ book of Condolence when John Mahama went to sign it – Asiedu Nketia

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said that the Government took away Jerry John Rawlings’ book of Condolence when John Dramani Mahama went to sign it.

It could be recalled that former President Jerry John Rawlings passed away on 12th November, 2020 at the Korlebu Teaching Hospital after a short illness.

Following the death of the founder of the National Democratic Congress, a delegation made up of the top  hierarchy of the party called on the family of the late Jerry John Rawlings to mourn with them on their loss.

According to the General Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, they were directed to sign a book of Condolence which has been opened in honour of Jerry John Rawlings at the Accra International Conference Center.

Asiedu Nketia revealed that, upon their arrival at the conference center, they were told that the Government has taken the book of Condolence away. Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia said;

“We just called on the immediate family of to offer our condolences from where we we’re directed to sign a book of Condolence which has been opened in his honour at the Accra International Conference Center.

Strangely, as our flagbearer and his team reached there, we were told that the book have been taken away by the Government and the place have been locked up and that the book will only be available on Monday and we asked ourselves, who is mourning with whom.

Well, if they think that the state events take precedence, it doesn’t stop the NDC from honouring our fallen hero“
