Former President John Dramani Mahama has described the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy) as a symptom of what has gone on for the last four years.

In a meeting with the Heads of Churches, Association and Groupings in Ghana, led by Most Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo the Presiding Member – Methodist Church of Ghana, the former President indicated that, the current 137/137 is a withdrawal symptom.

According to Mr. Mahama, the E-Levy is not the problem, but it is a symptom of what has gone on for the last four years.

He explained that, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government feels they can ride over everybody, takes its own decision and bring anything to Parliament and do whatever they likes, pass any decision that they want without dialoguing as happened in the past years with their 169 MPs.

He noted that, the situation is not the same because, the current 137/137 Members of Parliament for both NPP and NDC is a withdrawal symptom.

“The government has to climb down from its high horse and realize that the people of Ghana have been tired of that tyrannical dictatorial majority rule that it has carried out. Without consensus building, without dialogue, even if you are 169, it still helps to get consensus” John Dramani Mahama said.

The former President further made it known that, the meeting was timely and it’s always good to hear from both sides.
