Video: Hon. Woyome turns “Mathematics Doctor”, teaches quadratic equation at Sogakope SHS

The Deputy Chairman of the Volta Regional Members of Parliament Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome has displayed his teaching skills with students of Sogakope Senior High School (SOGASCO), in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.

The South Tongu MP who turns a “Mathematics Doctor”, taught differentiation of quadratic equation on his visit to the school to donate white maker boards and graph boards to the Mathematics department of the school.

After the donation, the MP demonstrated the use of the boards by displaying his teaching skills through plotting of a graph and also put a differentiation involving quadratic equation on the board for students to solve.

A female student of the school was called to try her hands on the question which she did miraculously. The MP together with the student solved the question in a practicable manner. A demonstration that made all the students to realize that, Mathematics is a simple subject because, an MP who is out of the classroom for decades could easily solved such a Mathematics question.

The smart Member of Parliament who wonderfully solved the equation on the board to students of Sogakope Senior High School was impressed on how the female student contributed positively while solving the problem. This, he believes, it’s a sign that, teachers are doing their best in the classroom through selfless teaching and learning.


According to the MP, his aim of solving the question with students was to eliminate the phobia many students have for Mathematics and to demonstrate the use of the boards practically.

He made it known that, Mathematics should be considered as one of the easiest subjects in the classroom and appealed to teachers to always inculcate the habits of constant practices in the teaching and learning of the Mathematics subject.

Mr. Woyome used the opportunity to advise students to take their academic works serious and promised to do everything in his capacity to improve upon teaching and learning in schools within his Constituency.
