VIDEO: NPP thugs, Military block roads to prevent Ewes in Banda from registering
Reports available to Coverghana.com.gh suggest that, unidentified group of people who dressed in military uniform have blocked roads at Banda Bongase in the Bono Region of Ghana to prevent residents from participating in the ongoing Electoral Commission’s new voter’s registration exercise.
Report the issue, the National Democratic Congress said, Five (5) voltarians in the area whose citizenship was challenged have been attacked by NPP task force. The incident has led to a clash between the residents and the NPP thugs.
According to the NDC, the NPP thugs and uniformed military personnel are intimidating people in the community the and have blocked roads to prevent the ewes from coming to the registration centres to register. This led to a physical clash between some residents, alleged NPP thugs and military personnel in the area.
The viral video circulating on social media intercepted by us show a clash between some individuals believed to be New Patriotic Party thugs and some residents of the Banda Bongase.
In the viral video, there are some national security personnel in military uniform trying to restore calm between the parties in the area which saw exchange of blows etc.
Information also revealed that, some National Executives of the National Democratic Congress Captain Joshua Akamba, Edem Agbana , Kobby Barlon and Bono Regional executives met the clash at Banda Bongase today to restore calm.
The National Democratic Congress argued that, the New Patriotic Party is keen on disenfranchising Ghanaians on tribal basis in the area.
Currently, the Electoral Commission has suspended the voter’s registration exercise in the Banda Bongase.
