Rt. Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament told the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo not to interfere into the affairs of the Legislature because, they know how best to address such instances since they know that Parliament is not above the law.

Rt. Hon. Bagbin stressed in his address after Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made what he described as an “unfortunate and myopic” remark on the Supreme Court’s ruling of Deputy Speakers voting rights.

The Speaker of Parliament said
“the impartiality of the Speaker, Deputy or Presiding Officer has been treasured and fought for by this country throughout our democratic development”  they know very well that  “the Executive and the Judiciary are not above the law.”

The work of the Parliament
can’t be dedicated to “myopic” minds. It will only “worsen the schism between the Executive and Parliament.”

“We are capable and firm to mange our affairs in other to fulfill the heart desires of the ordinary Ghanaians at home.” He added.
