Wenchi High Court has threw out NPP’s case against NDC and EC on Sene West Parliamentary seat

The Wenchi High Court has threw out a case filed by the New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Electoral Commission of Ghana on the Sene West December 2020 Parliamentary election.

The High Court has also fined the New Patriotic Party (NPP) GH¢14,000 for lack of merit and wasting the time of the court.

By this, the Electoral Commission can now go ahead to either count the snatched ballot box or conduct fresh Election in that polling station only.

BACKGROUND

The Wenchi high court has fined the
New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate Mr. Joseph Kumah Mackay an amount of GH¢ 6,000.00

The charge was presented to the NPP lawyer in the disputed Sene West parliamentary seat after the Court’s Thursday, 15th December, 2020 hearing.

The charge came at the time the NPP Candidate has withdrawn his injunction suit but the High Court judge fined him GH¢ 6,000.00 as a punishment to deter others from doing same next time.

This follows the debate by the NDC Legal team lead by Lawyer Victor Kwadwo Adawudu for the judge to surcharge him for those unnecessary moves.

The Wenchi high court judge has set 17th December, 2020 to rule on a case involving the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate and the New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate for the Sene West Constituency.

The High Court Judge in Wenchi who sat on the case today, Thursday, 15th December, 2020 has adjoined the case between the New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate Mr. Joseph Kumah Mackay who has placed an injunction restraining the Electoral Commission (EC) of Sene West from counting the Parliamentary ballot paper for Tato Battor Polling station B of which the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP/ PC – Hon Kwame Ampofo Twumasi us an interested party.
