Western Togoland Protest: 25 persons arrested by a Joint National Security Operatives
A Joint National Security Operatives have arrested 25 Western Togoland Protest sesesionisnt.
The Ghana Police Service together with a joint security operatives have arrested some twenty (25) persons at Juapong in the Volta Region alleged to be part of secessionists of the Western Togoland yearning for independence, leading to the blockage of roads in some parts of the Volta Region.
The arrest of the 25 persons by the joint security operatives followed the activities of secessionists of Western Togoland where major roads leading to the Volta Region were blocked at Juapong on the Accra-Ho highway, Tefle and Sokpoe near Sogakope on the ECOWAS highway and on the Sege-Battor road.
Subsequent to the blockage of the roads, the same group of secessionists have also vandalized Aveyime-Battor Police Station among many leading to the assault and arrest of three Police Personnel who are currently in their custody.
Reports picked by Coverghana.com.gh also revealed that, the secessionists have locked up some police personnel, took away their vehicle and guns.
It is reported that the Sogakope Divisional Commander, Chief Supt. Dennis Fiakpi is being held hostage at Avayime-Battor along with 3 other police officers.
Though, the roads were quiet cleared by the joint security operatives, the residents are alarmed and gripped with panic and fear on their daily activities.
Meanwhile, in an interview, the Volta Regional Minister Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa has asked the people of the Volta Region to remain calm as the joint security operatives proceed with their rescue mission.
He also reassured the residents of their protection and safety in the Region.
