Ukraine is a country in the Eastern Europe. It happens to be the second largest country by area in Europe, after Russia.
Ukraine has shared boundaries with seven (7) countries. These are; Belarus, Russia, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.

Belarus is to the North of Ukraine, Russia to the East, Moldova and Romania to the South West, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland to the West with the Sea of Azov and the Black sea to the South.
The country officially declared itself independent on August 24, 1991 when the communist Supreme Soviet of Ukraine proclaimed that Ukraine would no longer follow the laws of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).
