Bobi Wine Biography

Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly referred to by his stage name Bobi Wine, is a Ugandan politician. Bobi is also an actor and a singer.

He served in Uganda formerly as a Member of Parliament for the Kyadondo County East constituency, in the central region of Uganda. He is currently the leader of the National Unity Platform political party, an opposition party in Uganda.

Kyagulanyi was a celebrated musician in Uganda before he ventured into politics. Bobi started his career in the music industry in the early 2000s, and that is where he adapted the nickname Bobi Wine as his stage name. His first 3 singles were hits and he became very successful after that. Bobi was also a movie star in the Uganda movie industry. He began his career in politics in 2017 when he contested for the parliamentary seat of the Kyadondo County East constituency and won by a landslide. Kyagulanyi announced his interest in running for president of Uganda in the 2021 election on the ticket of the National Unity Platform political party. He however lost to the incumbent, Museveni and he contested the election results claiming to have been cheated by his opponent.
