Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) is accusing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for excessive borrowing.

In a statement issued by the Executive Director of Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) Mr. Mensah Thompson the current NPP Government has borrowed GH¢125 billion in four years, GH¢60 billion of oil cash have been accrued to them in four years, taxes alone are in excess GH¢200 billion, Gold Royalties are in excess of GH¢3 billion.

Mr. Mensah Thompson further said, these four streams of income alone has given the New Patriotic Party Government almost GH¢400 billion Ghana Cedis in four years and people are still asking where someone will get GH¢10 billion for the Big Push?

“The free SHS in four years cost the current Government just 3.2 billion Ghana Cedis and people are asking where someone will get money to add the Private SHSs and pay free tuition for the disabled?” He added.

According to the Executive Director of ASEPA, he don’t know where this question of where is the money going to come from have suddenly become the escape route for Government propagandists.

“Did Akufo Addo tell us where he was going to get money to do free SHS? You have been accrued to over GH¢400 billion in four years, an average of GH¢100 billion cedis annually, and you are asking where someone is going to get money from to pay the customers of the collapsed banks?” He lamented.

Explaining further, he said, “the entire banking sector mess needed just 9 billion to fix, you spent over GHC16 billion to collapse the banks and still people are on the streets demonstrating for their investments. So don’t talk to me about where the money is going to come from… Like Dr. Bawumia said, the money is right here!”
