Withdraw Emissions Levy, the timing is wrong – Nana B to government

Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), commonly known as Nana B has called on the government to instantly withdraw the new levy, the Emissions Levy saying the timing for the levy is bad.
According to Nana B, emission levies are not bad but they are levies typically imposed on developed nations that have taken up electric cars with the mind of addressing climate change.
Further, he asserted that he believes the new levy, if implemented fully, will compound the already harsh economic conditions in the country, stressing that the timing is wrong.

Nana B’s words on the topic were let out in an interview on Citi News,
He said “Yes, we understand the need for the government to raise revenue, but we also need to balance it with the sentiments of the people. I think this is not the right time. In as much, as a country, we want to stand by the government in times of this difficult era, when we want to raise revenue and make sure that the economy is back and in shape, some of these taxes for me are a bit problematic. That is why I’m saying that the government must withdraw this tax.”
The GPRTU has also called for the cancellation of the Emissions Levy. Other stakeholders are against the tangent the government has taken.
