Staunch member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) P.K. Sarpong has accused the National Democratic Congress over the ongoing West African Secondary School Certificate Examination. According to him, students writing their WASSCE would be a subject of contention, especially on the part of the opposition party.
Mr. P.K Sarpong noted that, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) would descend into the gutters, revile the results and create negative stories out of same when the WASSCE results are released. He added that, if the pass rate of 2020 WASSCE Candidates is high, the NDC will criticize President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appealing to WAEC to reduce the making scheme. But if the students failed abysmally, the NDC will again blame the Akufo-Addo’s government for mismanaging the Free SHS education.

I am not possessed with any spirit of clairvoyance. I would also not assume certain extrasensory powers for myself, for I am an ordinary fellow.
Notwithstanding my spectacular aversion to such a posturing when one is not gifted with the powers to see into the foreseeable future, I can say without equivocation that the results of the students writing their WASSCE would be a subject of contention, especially on the part of the opposition party.
The NDC would descend into the gutters, revile the results and create negative stories out of same. Don’t be surprised to witness this when the results are released.
My government is the first to absorb WASSCE fees for final year students in Ghana – Akufo-Addo
If the students do well in the exams, the refrain would be that Akufo-Addo asked WAEC to reduce the marking scheme and to ensure that the students pass in droves even if they didn’t do well so as to give impetus to the implementation of the Free SHS programme.
If the students’ performances are seen to be abysmal, they would also come up with the story that Free SHS is a fiasco, a flop of epic proportions and same should form the basis upon which Akufo-Addo and his team have failed and run the education sector aground.
Head or tail, they will come up with a narrative that points to a defect in the implementation of the Free Senior High School policy.
Don’t run head over heels worrying your mind and heart over such a development because they will pump these negative vibes into the results irrespective of what the numbers look like.
