According to reliable sources, over 300,000 candidates out of the total number of candidates who sat for the 2023 BECE have been placed in their preferred schools automatically by the Computerized School Selection Placement System (CSSPS).
It has been announced that out of the 572,892 candidates who registered and sat for the 2023 BECE, only 555,353 of them met the CSSPS placement criteria.
Out of the said qualified candidates, 367,811 of them had a placement for their preferred school automatically.
The remaining 187,542 qualified candidates are said to resort to the self-placement system to get a school that will accommodate them.
On the 9th of November 2023, WAEC released the results of students who sat for the 2023 BECE.
Next, the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum promised parents and the general public that the CSSPS Portal would be active in a few days to enable the students to check their placement school and proceed with their academic work (2023/2024 academic).
The CSSPS Portal plays a vital role in the selection of schools. Through the portal, students will know if they are to proceed with their secondary education via the SHS, SHTS, or TVET institutes.
With the CSSPS Portal, students will be matched to schools based on their grades and selected schools of their choice hence assigning qualified students to the appropriate schools becomes less stressful for MoE and the respective schools.
Also, there is a self-placement process for students who have missed out on the CSSPS due to some reason(s). This portal will provide them with the opportunity to choose/select from available schools that can accommodate them for their course/programme of study.
