Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, North Tongu Constituency’s Member of Parliament (MP) has cautioned VRA-induced flood victims not to return to their homes until structural integrity assessment is been conducted.

Returnees according to Hon. Okudzeto are to remain at the 21 displaced camps in order to enable the team to access the submerged buildings to avoid collapsing on the victims when they return home.

Hon. Okudzeto commended Engineers & Planners, the military detachment, and NADMO personnel on the ground for their outstanding partnership in combating the VRA-induced floods.

Adding he said the next plan of activity in his constituency is to pump stagnant waters out of the communities into the Volta River as the last phase of our dredging operations.

Cautioning his constituents, he said “May I reiterate my earlier caution to all affected beloved constituents not to return to their homes until we have conducted a structural integrity assessment of all the buildings which were submerged.

“It is absolutely crucial that you all avoid submerged buildings until we give you the green light. We must consciously avoid weak and compromised buildings collapsing on displaced returnees.

“The good news is that I have made arrangements for an extensive structural integrity assessment to be carried out on all submerged structures from next week.
