The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu Constituency Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has set up an Ambulance Service Fund for his constituents.
According to the Lawmaker, Ambulance Service Fund he established for his beloved North Tongu is to pertinent issues faced by patients who need the services of the North Tongu Ambulance Service.
In a Facebook post, which gathered a lot of attention and comments online, the MP said, the establishment of the Fund followed a cash donation he made to the management of the North Tongu Office of the National Ambulance Service for the purpose of creating the fund.

Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, popularly known as Togbe Worgbedzi I disclosed that, the Fund will cater for vulnerable patients who cannot afford the cost of their referral outside the Volta Region.
According to management of the Ambulance Service, the national policy is to charge patients for fuel once they have been referred to a medical facility outside a region. In the case of North Tongu, each patient is expected to pay GH¢385.00.
The North Tongu Ambulance Service Fund shall operate as a revolving fund which shall be constantly replenished by the MP’s office with anticipated support from other kind hearted persons and organisations.

The Ranking Member of Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee reinterated that, he is determined to ensure that no beloved constituent ever loses his/her life merely because they couldn’t afford the cost of fuel demanded by an ambulance service provider.
Earlier, the MP has donated a fully equipped ambulance and medical consumables worth over Gh¢100,000.00 to the Juapong Health Centre to enhance smooth and effective delivery of health services.
