Ablakwa launches MP's Mobile Relief Caravan, supplies 40-foot container of relief packages to victims of Akosombo Dam spillage

On Monday, October 16, 2023, Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, successfully launched the MP’s Mobile Relief Caravan in his constituency. This initiative was in response to the devastating havoc caused by the Akosombo Dam spillage.

As part of the objectives for launching the Mobile Relief Caravan, the MP supplied a 40-foot container filled with relief packages for distribution to the affected victims of the spillage by the Volta River Authority (VRA).

The North Tongu MP’s Mobile Relief Caravan covers five major areas. These are;

1. Free food.

2. Free medicine.

3. Free water.

4. Free life jackets and

5. Free essentials.

The MP has developed an efficient distribution system to ensure that all nineteen (19) camps for displaced persons in North Tongu constituency regularly receive the much-needed relief items without delays.

The MP’s office has secured a 40-foot container containing relief packages such as bags of rice, maize, sugar, cooking oil, canned fish, mosquito nets, detergents, tissues, mosquito repellents, sanitary towels, life jackets, and tissues. These items will be distributed to all camps.

Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa, a pragmatic and results-oriented lawmaker, expressed his commitment to the 10,000 displaced constituents, stating that they remain dear to his heart and will not be abandoned. He added, “I shall be with you all the way – your welfare is my priority.”

The relief packages were handed over to the Mepe Traditional Council and received by Togbe Mankralo for onward distribution.

The chiefs expressed their appreciation to the MP on behalf of the people for his kindness and support.

The programme was attended by NDC Volta Regional, Constituency, Branch Executives, Former party executives, Chiefs and elders, opinion leaders among others.
