The immediate past SRC President of the Ada College of Education has Mr. Gideon Ametsikor has appealed to the government to timely release their students allowances in other to leverage the suffering.
This, he said, will cushion their plight on campus. The final year student of the College revealed that most of them (students) use the allowance to pay for their academic fees and anytime the money delays they suffer.
Aside using the allowance for the payment of their school fees, he noted that they largely depends on it for food. “The allowance is in arrears for over 3 months and it is affecting our learning, for instance, we need to buy data for effective online studies but the allowance is not coming regularly. The school also relies on it for feeding grant but it doesn’t come so it has become a serious thing here at the Ada College of Education” the just outgone SRC president stated.
Mr. Ametsikor stated students will have a good peace of mind to focus on academic works if their allowances will be disbursed by Students’ Loan Trust Fund regularly on time.
President Akufo-Addo’s NPP administration has reintroduced the teacher training allowance in 2017 after former president John Mahama cancelled it in 2012 but for some time now, the NPP government has been struggling to release both the teacher and the nursing trainees allowances regularly as those allowances are in arrears for months.
