The Ghana Black Stars face the Panthers of Gabon in the Total Energies African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
Ghana and Gabon have played a total of recorded eleven matches played between the two sides, Ghana has won five games out of the eleven, drawn three and lost three.
Though Black Stars have triumphed over the Panthers more than they have lost, the Panthers are not a side to underestimate, the Panthers for instance have been able to hold their own with the Stars losing one out of the two FIFA world cup qualifications played between them and also the international friendly.
Unlike Black Stars who under the leadership of Andre Ayew lost their opening match with Morocco, Gabon won their opening match against Comoros and currently place second on the Group C table with three points, Ghana on the other hand have zero points.
With the recovery of the Panthers’ Aubameyang and the recall of the Black Stars’ Mohammed Kudus back to camp a lot can be expected from both teams, though there’s no assurance they would both players would play.
Many have projected a draw between the two but the hunger to win a match by the Black Stars and the urge to maintain a winning streak could have us seeing a repeat of the Panthers performance against the Black Stars in the World Cup qualifiers of 2008.
Things could take turn for either team the Black Stars and Panthers are most likely to draw.
