Afram Plains: Government to construct a bridge over River Afram

The Finance Committee of Parliament has approved a commercial and credit facility agreement to design and construct a bridge over the River Afram.

The above was made known in a Facebook post mad by Hon. Davis Ansah Opoku, the Member of Parliament of Mpraeso Constituency in the Eastern Region.

According to the legislature, the 3 Kilometer Bridge will have two lanes with a walkway and a service lane.

“The Finance Committee of Parliament has just approved a commercial and credit facility agreement to design and construct Adawso-Ekye Amanfrom Bridge and Associated roads.

The 3 Kilometre Bridge, the fifth-longest in Africa when completed, will have two lanes with a walkway and a service lane” he stated.

The bridge is expected to stretch from Adawso to Ekye Amanfrom, all in the Afram Plains South District.

The people of Afram Plains always have to resort to the use of ferry to cross the river, which has always been delaying transportation to and fro the place.

The bridge, when constructed, would improve tourism and agricultural activities in the Kwahu Afram Plains North and South Districts.

The Kwahu Afram Plains shares boundary with three major Regions: Volta, Bono and Ashanti.
