Hon. Ahiafor Bernard Esq., Member of Parliament for the Akatsi South Constituency, spearheaded a delegation comprising officials from the Department of Urban Roads and the National Road Safety Commission.

Their objective was to conduct a comprehensive assessment of key locations within the constituency for the installation of traffic lights and speed humps.

The team focused on evaluating specific areas that would greatly benefit from improved road safety measures.

Among the sites assessed were the Akatsi 4-Junction, Accra Station, Torve Bypass, and Agbaflome-Monome Junction. These strategic points were identified as critical areas requiring the implementation of traffic lights and speed humps to enhance safety and regulate traffic flow.

The installation of traffic lights at these junctions aims to improve road safety by effectively managing the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

By providing clear signals and designated crossing points, the traffic lights will help minimize the risk of accidents and ensure smoother traffic operations within the constituency.

The team also assessed portions of roads leading to the Akatsi township that necessitated the implementation of standard speed humps.

These speed-reducing measures will serve as a deterrent against excessive speeding, promoting responsible driving behavior and ultimately enhancing road safety for all road users.

“Our primary goal is to ensure the safety of our constituents on the roads. By installing traffic lights and speed humps at key locations, we aim to reduce accidents, improve road discipline, and create a safer environment for everyone.” He added.
