The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has acted against his own decision not to grant post retirement contracts.
The President through the Ministry of Finance on the 5th of August, 2022 wrote to inform ministries and governmental departments and agencies that all post retirement appointments contracts will not be approved or granted because there is no financial clearance allocated for such in 2022 Budget and Economic Policy.
Contrary to this earlier release, on 19th August, 2022, the President has granted the approval of a one year post retirement extension contract for the Deputy Director-General (Management Service) of Ghana Education Service, Dr Anthony Boateng after a request was made by the Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
This turnout of events has left many Ghanaians perplexed as to what has changed and also how effective Government and presidential instructions are made functional.
Lots of legitimate questions have been asked as to why the President would go against his own decision not to give any post retirement extension contracts just about 12 days after his order.
