Akuse Gov’t Hospital carries out its first delivery of conjoined twins – Full report 


The Akuse Government Hospital has successfully carried out its first delivery of conjoined twins (Siamese twins) since its established in 1911.

The Hospital made the history today after one hundred and ten (110) years of existence by delivering Siamese twins who appear to be joined at the thorax successfully.

The medical team at the Hospital that successfully carried out its first delivery of the twins was led by Dr. Tyrus Valmont.

According to Information, the babies will have to undergo a final surgery to successfully separate them.

Reports available to Coveraghana.com.gh further disclosed that, the mother and conjoined babies (Siamese twins) hails from Torgorme in the North Tongu District of the Volta region.

This was announced by the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa after the Hospital Management held a historic occasion to officially outdoor the twins.

The Akuse Government Hospital is located in Eastern Region of Ghana. The Hospital serves a great number of residents across the Region including some individuals from Torgorme, Fodzoku, Juapong enclave of the North Tongu District because of its proximity and an impressive track record.
