Renowned politician and member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Alan Kyerematen has been rumored to be in talks with Ivor Kobina Greenstreet of the Convention People’s Party to run as President and Vice for the 2024 Presidential election.
According to a reliable source who spoke to the Ghanaian Times and pleaded anonymity, Mr Kyerematen initiated talks with the two-time CPP flagbearer for a possible alliance.
The source claimed that after originally tossing around the notion of running as an independent, he changed his mind after realizing how challenging it would be to mount a successful independent campaign in 2024.
According to reports, Mr. Kyerematen had discussions with the leaders of the Convention People’s Party and the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), two political organizations with established organizational frameworks, to facilitate the campaign.
BACKGROUND
After placing third in the super delegates meeting on August 26, Mr. Kyerematen resigned from the NPP Presidential election. He received 95 votes, trailing Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and Dr. Bawumia, who each received 629 and 132 votes.
Intimidation and an unequal playing field were two of Mr. Kyerematen’s reasons for quitting.
