Assin North: NPP polling station executives blame Bawumai for by-election defeat

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) polling station executives in the Assin North constituency have pointed fingers at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for their recent by-election defeat. The executives claim that the Vice President’s involvement in the campaign was detrimental to their chances of victory.

During the campaign, the main contender for the NPP, Charles Opoku, failed to receive the expected support and promotion from within the party. Instead, all attention seemed to be focused on Vice President Bawumia. This disparity in treatment raised concerns among the polling station executives who expected equal support for all candidates.

According to Owoahene Dominic when speaking to MetroTV, he indicated that while Mr. Allen, another contender, was delivering a speech on stage, Vice President Bawumia was seen entering the crowd. The executives viewed this as a deliberate attempt to disrupt and humiliate Mr. Allen, which they strongly condemned.

The executives emphasized that if the party is to adhere to its own rules, fairness and equal opportunities should be extended to all candidates. It is essential to avoid favoring one individual over others, as it sends a negative message and undermines the democratic principles of the party.

Mr. Owoahene Dominic NPP polling station executive expressed his disbelief in Vice President Bawumia’s involvement in interrupting Mr. Allen’s speech. They argued that Mr. Alexei Martin, who serves as the Vice President’s aide, would not condone such actions and that the Vice President himself should have used alternate routes to approach the podium, avoiding any disruption.
