Several students who were posted to the Senior High Schools in the Bawku Municipality have declined the admissions due to the ongoing conflict in the area.
The decades old chieftaincy dispute in Bawku and it’s environs has led to numerous casualties, including fatalities and injuries, with the recent disturbances causing at least ten deaths.

Due to the precarious situation in the area, many students who have been posted to schools in the area in this Year’s Computerised School Placement has rejected their admissions.
Kofi Ayamga Anamboyine who is the Upper East Regional Coordinator for the Free Senior High School Programme, disclosed in an interview with Citi News that the students who would accept their admission offers would receive counseling.
Some Islamic scholars and concerned citizens have appealed to the local residents to promote peace by laying down their weapons.
