Biakoye DCE inaugurates five completed projects in various parts of the District

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Biakoye District of the Oti Region, Hon. Comfort Akua Attah has stressed the need for the good people of the district to give the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo another chance to deliver more goodies to them. According to the DCE, one of the surest ways the people can show appreciation for the President’s intervention is to return him and the NPP to power for the next four years. Madam Attah made the call during the inauguration of some five (5) completed projects in various parts of the district.

The first project was a two-unit semi-detached nurses quarters for the Ofedie Clinic at Nkonya Ahenkro, funded under the District Participatory Assessment Tool (DPAT). Each of the two self-contained apartments has two (2) bedrooms, a hall and kitchen as well as toilet and bath.

The bungalows are currently housing the Physician Assistant (PA) and the Staff Midwife of the Clinic which serves more than eight (8) communities with a daily attendance of sixty (60) clients who have access to Out Patients’ Department (OPD), Maternal and Child Health (MCH), Psychiatric and Nutrition services, just to mention a few.

The Adontenhene of the Nkonya Traditional Area, Nanai Kwadwo Otieku II was grateful to the DCE and the Assembly for the gesture. According to him, the provision of the accommodation facility attests to the DCE’s commitment to improving the working conditions of the nursing staff in the district.

At Bowiri Odumase, Hon Comfort Akua Attah handed over a CHPS Compound facility to the District Directorate of Health Services. The structure was at twenty (20) percent complete at the time the DCE assumed office in 2017. The facility is serving hundreds of residents of the community and beyond who hitherto had to access healthcare at Nkonya Ahenkro or Bowiri Kwamikrom which are distant from them.

The CHPS Compound which was built from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), would also serve some island or overseas communities in the catchment area including Toviate. It has one unit accommodation facility housing the Staff Midwife in-charge of the centre.

District Director of Health, Ms. Rita Ama Wurapa-Abudey was grateful to the DCE and the Assembly for the projects. She said the facilities would motivate the health staff in the area and also encourage many other nurses to accept postings to the district.

The chiefs and people of Bowiri Kwamikrom saw the commissioning of a ten (10) unit Lockable Market Store structure for the Kwamikrom Market with funding from the DPAT fund. An Opinion leader of the community and Spokesperson for the Chiefs, Mr. Cephas Semenhyea as well as the Chairman of the Kwamikrom Town Council, Mr. Jones Mawuli Peni said the handing over of the facility was timely. They expressed gratitude to the DCE and Assembly for the gesture and pledged to use the facility for the benefit of the entire populace, particularly the market women.

Similarly, the Assembly also inaugurated its twenty (20) unit Market Shed facility at Bowiri Amanfrom under the Assembly’s DPAT funds. The structure has ancillary facilities such as an overhead polytank water reservoir and a four (4) unit Water Closet (WC) place of convenience for both males and females. An Elder of the community, Mr. John Afenyo and a market woman of the area, Ms. Lovelyn Sackey lauded the DCE and Assembly for the developmental projects in the area. According to them, the facility would go a long way to improve their market economy which largely concentrates on the cultivation of food and cash crops.

The official commissioning of a Meat Shop for the Zongo Community at Worawora also took place with funding from DPAT resources. The meat shop replaces the current one which is old and very dilapidated. The event attracted a number of residents who were happy that government was committed to improving sanitation and health among the people. The Assembly Member for Worawora Electoral Area, Hon. Richard Opoku, Chairman of the Biakoye Empire Group, Mr. Isaac Amoh and the Chief Butcher, Mr. Mohamadu Ibrahim (Yaro) were highly grateful to the Assembly and government, describing the event as a dream come true.

The DCE also inspected work on the almost completed six (6) unit classroom block infrastructure for the Tapa Abotoase D.A. Primary School. The project which was funded by GETFund is about ninety-five (95) percent complete. It has offices, store, staff common room and ancillary facilities.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremonies, DCE Comfort Akua Attah gave the assurance that government would continue to provide the needed amenities that would inure to the benefit of the ordinary Ghanaian. She therefore urged the people to vote massively for the President and the NPP in the December 7 polls in order to achieve more for the area in particular and the country as a whole.

Hon Attah urged the beneficiaries of the facilities to take good care of them so as to prolong their lifespan.
