Football activities were filed up or suspended due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Major leagues across Europe such as the English Premier League, French League One, La liga Santander, Italian Series A, German Bundelsliga among others were all suspended.
UEFA Champions League and Europa Leagues were also suspended due to the global pandemic. In spite of this, Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo is of the view that, the Champions League trophy should be handed over to his club as they were able to remove the 2018-2019 season champions, Liverpool from the current competition.
Information gathered reveal that, UEFA is formulating plans to finish the competition. This is because there are still a few knockout games to be played, quarter-finals, the semi and finals.
Atlético Madrid have lost Champions League final matches in 2014 and 2016. This time around, their president wishes the cup is handed over to them for knocking out the red devils if plans to continue the campaign wouldn’t suffice.
