Cocoa Season : Assembly members demanding 5k to confirm nominated MMDCEs
Money
Some Assembly Members are currently cashing in as it has been revealed that some are demanding huge sums of monies to confirm nominated MMDCEs.
President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo a few days ago released a list of persons he has nominated to represent him at the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the country.
According to law, these nominees are to be approved by the members of the various districts assemblies before they can be sworn into office to begin their work.
It has however emerged that some assembly members are cashing in heavily as some demands as much as GH¢5,000 each to approve the nominees.
Mr. Joe Jackson who is the operations manager of Dalex Finance made these shocking allegations on his Twitter handle.
“Ei! This is ‘cocoa season’ for Assembly Members nationwide. I hear from credible sources that even rural assemblymen are each demanding up to GHS 5k to confirm nominated MMDCEs.
Corruption is built into the system even be fore taking your position as an MMDCE. #CryBelovedCountry”
