COVID-19: JM’s brother Ibrahim Mahama donates food items to visually impaired pensioners

The biological brother of the Former President John Dramani Mahama who is the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers & Planners Limited, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama has joined donors across Ghana and donated assorted food items to the visually impaired workers who have gone on retirement in some parts of Ghana.

Mr. Rafik Mahama, the special aide to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama has disclosed the news on his social media handles to have delivered the food items to Ghana Federation of Disability Organization (GFDO) on behalf of his boss on Friday, 15th May, 2020.

According to a reliable and well-verified sources, the food items which cost an undisclosed huge sums of money include; one-hundred (100) bags of rice, seven hundred and twenty (720) bottles of cooking oil, seven hundred and twenty (720) cans of mackerel and seven hundred and twenty (720) cans of tomato paste.

Mr. Rafik Mahama,while delivering the assorted food stuffs noted that, the donation from his boss Mr. Ibrahim Mahama was to extend supports to all visually impaired persons who are hopeless in the midst of the widespread Coronavirus pandemic due to their disability.

“This is to supports the visually impaired whose movement and livelihood have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic because of their inability to move around because of the social distance and other restrictions imposed by the government.” He explained. 

In receiving the food items which cost an undisclosed huge sums of money was the Board Chairman of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organization (GFDO), Mr. Yaw Ofori Debrah on behalf of the Federation. He, after receiving the items extended the Federation’s appreciations to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama and his team for the donations and supports extended to the less privileged visually impaired persons.

Mr. Rafik Mahama also revealed that, his boss Mr. Ibrahim Mahama also made a second donation to St. James Catholic Church-Osu. According to him second donations consist of fifty (50) bags of rice, three hundred and sixty (360) cans of Mackerel, three hundred and sixty (360) cans of tomato paste and three hundred and sixty (360) bottles of cooking oil.

According to the donor, the donation programme was designed purposely to help the community members through the church. He added that the, the church was tasked to distribute the assorted food items to every individual homes within their catchment areas. The Church was used to avoid receivers of the items crowding at one place in order to receive food items.

Since the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic in Ghana, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama has been donating food items, health consumables, monies among many to the vulnerable, the poor and needy across Ghana. “This is part of series of donations that has been done ever since the pandemic started in March. In April, similar donations was done across the Muslim and Christian communities. The food items were distributed to 10,000 households across the affected areas.” He added.
