The Ghana Education Service has issued a press release reacting to media reports of the demise of another student at the Gwiraman Senior High School in the Western Region just weeks after the sad demise of a male student at the KNUST senior high school.
According to the press release from the Ghana Education Service, the deseased Nathaniel Yankey is a final year student of Gwiraman Senior High School in the Western Region which is only day School without a boarding facility but , some parents including parents of the
deceased have hired their own private hostel for their wards where they
reside and commute to and from school on daily basis. Such hostels are run
by private individuals and not by the school authorities.
The statement further explained that, “Master Nathaniel Yankey left the hostel to his parents’ house when he felt
unwell last Friday and the school was notified and the Management of Gwiraman SHS called on Wednesday 15th July 2020 to check on him and was told he had passed on this morning and that unfortunate death of one of Our students was not the mishandling of a sick student on campus as the 3news.com story alleges”
The statement added that” Management of wishes to implore the media to properly check their facts well before publishing their stories in order not to create fear and panic among the public.”
