Disunity in Afram Plains North and South; a premier factor of underdevelopment

An indigene of Afram Plains North and South, who served as the Public Relations Manager of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana – TTAG Volta Sector Joshua Kwasi Tettey says, disunity among leaders is causing underdevelopment in the two Districts.
According to him, Afram Plains North and South have for the past years seen development at the pace of the tortoise due to the fact that, unity among leaders of the Districts is in limbo.
In a statement, Joshua Kwasi Tettey noted that, Political affiliation, personal interest among other trivial concerns have brought the underdevelopment of the Districts. He has therefore calls on leaders of the Districts to sit up, put personal interest, political differences among others aside and forge forward for a better District.

I write from the cottage where I was born and bread to express my joy over the just ended Presidential and Parliamentary Election.
It was all joy to know that, the people have made their choice and that should be a course to celebrate.
Growing up at the village, I knew how difficult it was to get up there when the people you are competing with have what it takes to get there and you are yet to get your share. It was never easy and remains so till today.
Afram Plains North and South have for the past years seen development at the pace of the tortoise due to the fact that, unity among leaders of the Districts is in limbo.
Political affiliation, personal interest among other trivial concerns have brought us this far. It is time we sit up, put our personal interest, political differences among others aside and forge forward for a better District.
It is also sad to note that, the few who stood up to fight have been relegated and reluctant due to the fact that, the people they represent don’t value what they do for them.
To the Member of Parliaments Elected for both Constituencies, I congratulate you once again on your win. It is my prayer and hope that, your next four years in Parliament will yield more and better results for Afram Plains.

1. Road and infrastructure
2. Youth and Employment
3. Education
4. Health (a District Hospital in Afram Plains South won’t be a bad idea)
5. Security (the issues of robbery and fulani attacks need serious attention).
To the President Elect, congrats once again. Your works really did the talking.
I will also like to draw your attention to the following since they are really necessary for the development of Afram Plains.

1. Land has been secured by the Afram Plains South District Assembly for a District Hospital. It has been more than 3 months now and we have not heard any update on how far that has gone. This is the time to address that issue.
2. You promised a bridge over the River Afram in 2016. I learnt 3 different companies have done studies on the River, Parliament has approved their studies pending Cabinet Approval. It is my hope that, your next four years as President will bring to light the bridge.
3. Afram Plains (both North and South) has 6 Senior High Schools without a Tertiary Institution. I believe it is time you give us at least one Tertiary Institution.

4. Our road has been in a bad state for ages now. Attending to them within your next four years won’t be bad.
With my village experience coupled with my “hypocrisy” and “brave cowardness” I will end here with the hope that, one day, we will get our share of the “National Cake” as far as development is concerned.
