Dr. Bawumia’s “promise” to Kusasi King about conflict resolution got rubbished; Gunmen attacked vehicle at Walewale

The Vice President who doubles as the 2024 flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia visited the Overlord of Bawku, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka ll at his palace in Bawku and promised to find a lasting solution to end the conflict in Bawku.

It was reported that two (2) weeks after Dr. Bawumia’s visit to promise a solution to end the conflict in Bawku, some gunmen attacked about two (2) vehicles traveling from the Kusaug area to Kumasi at a Mamprusi town, Walewale.

The action displayed by the gunmen birthed a chaotic scene where about seven (7) people got wounded by the gunshots in that attack process.

Out of the seven (7) affected people, six (6) of them are in a critical state and currently receiving treatment at the Bolgatanga hospital.

This attack came after of Vice President’s visit to the Overlord of Bawku, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka ll at his palace in Bawku and promised to do everything in his capacity as Vice President to end the conflict in Bawku.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his visit told the Overlord that the Mamprusis and Kusasis are one and can live together in peace.

Fast-forward, after two (2) weeks into his visit, two (vehicles traveling from the Kusaug area traveling to Kumasi were attacked at Walewale.

The Kusaug Youth Movement has however issued a statement condemning the act and calling on the North East security council to bring the perpetrators to book.

Mr Aruku Issaku, the spokesperson of the group wondered why their rivals would put that attack at that time. He called on the government to apprehend those behind the attack and put a stop to similar acts in the future because it has a reoccurring potential if not pruned to the root well.
