ECG announces timeline to audit meters; Gives moratorium to customers

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is informing the general public and their cherished customers about auditing of their meter across the country.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) said, they will deploy teams of ECG Officials for field survey to update customer information.
ECG to disconnect power for Parliament, UPSA, UG, EOCO, UNDP and 30 others
They also called for the assistance of their customers to assist this exercise. All customers are being given a MORATORIUM of one month, beginning 7th June – 6th July, 2022, to report to their District/Regional Offices for rectification of the underlined issues.
The following are issues that must be reported for rectification:
1. Postpaid customers who have meters but do not receive bills.
2. Prepaid customers who do not purchase electricity credits.
ECG to take legal action against persons who illegally use its corporate logo
3. Customers whose meters are faulty.
4. Customers who have by-passed or tampered with their meters and are therefore not paying for the full cost of power usage.
5. Customers who have engaged in any form if electrical illegality, etc.
However, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) sends warning and promise to publish names of offenders.
Prepayment systems never convert electricity credit to debt – ECG
“Please note that after the moratorium, customers who are caught stealing electricity, which is criminal will be charged with the offense of stealing in accordance with the law. Their names shall also be published widely.”
