We are a bunch of Oliver Twist – NUGS to SLTF

Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo, President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has indicated that, Ghanaian students are bunch of Oliver Twist.
Speaking at forum organised at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to launch the “No Guarantor” policy of the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF).
Dennis in his speech indicated that, the SLTF cannot provide scholarship for everybody but the least the Fund can do is to expand the student loan scheme.

He further indicated that, the Act guiding the Student Loan Trust Fund should be looked at and urged the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to take up the matter.
Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo further indicated that, his office would embark on rigorous campaign on recovery and that any beneficiary of the scheme who hasn’t pay back their loans is as corrupt as corrupt politicians stealing the country’s money.
Dennis further indicated that, interest on the loans taken by beneficiaries starts palling up even as far as level 100, a situation he pleased with the Vice President to take a look at.
NUGS secures representation on district scholarship selection committee
He again pleaded with the Vice President to help increase the amount of money granted to students from GH¢3,000.00 to GH¢5,000.00.
The no guarantor policy offers students of tertiary institutions to access supports from the student loan trust fund without going through the process of securing a guarantor.
