Economic Hardship: Most men in their mid-30s cannot afford to marry – Bernard Avle

Ghanaian media personality, broadcast journalist, and public speaker Bernard Koku Avle working with Citi FM disclosed that most men in their mid-30s cannot afford to marry because of economic hardship.
According to Bernard, the said Ghanaian men have been working tirelessly to earn a living, establish themselves with businesses, and another legitimate medium of earning good returns, and hopefully make their own families. However, the nature of the Ghanaian economy is not favouring them.
Some men have worked for twelve (12) years but cannot afford to marry, he added.

He stated that the said men are not lazy. They have and are doing their best to save enough but it has proved futile. Families of those men are also mounting pressure on their children to marry.
A lot of men out there are willing to have a union but the hardship is driving them away constantly. The soul is willing to marry and enjoy the good nights and share plans to nurture and build the next generation but the body is too weak to pursue the journey whose return will make the soul happy.
Pressure from family is sending the youth away from home. Since most of the men in their mid-30s cannot fulfill their own desires and those of their families, they have opted not to return home due to shame and feeling inferior because they will be judged using the “new normal trend” other youths have employed to gather wealth.
To many, the Ghanaian system needs a total overhauling. “Proper work” with good structures like the West can alleviate these burdens on men in their mid-30s. People are out there willing to be entrepreneurs and solve a chunk of the nation’s problems which in return will feed their homes but they are bombarded with taxes from the little they have managed to accumulate from their own funded establishments coupled with standard of living among others.
