Education Minister and Director-General Tour Ashanti Region Schools

Education Minister Hon Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum and Director-General Dr Eric Nkansah embarked on a four-day tour of the Ashanti Region on Friday, 28th April 2023. The team kicked off the tour with a visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, where they paid a courtesy call to congratulate him on his exceptional 24 years of leadership as King of the Asante Kingdom. After receiving the blessings of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the team proceeded to visit several schools in the region.
The first stop was Asem Boys JHS, where the team inspected the construction of a STEM Model JHS. Next on the itinerary was the Wesley College of Education, Kumasi, and WESCO Demonstration Practice Basic School. They also visited Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School and Kumasi Girls Senior High School, where they inspected the construction of a Girls’ STEM SHS. Finally, they visited Kumasi High School.
Throughout the tour, the students and teachers engaged with the team enthusiastically and with great excitement. The Director-General expressed his eagerness to engage with even more students and teachers as they continue the tour.
The purpose of the tour is to assess the state of education in the region and identify areas that require improvement. The tour also aims to motivate and inspire students to pursue careers in STEM fields, as well as to encourage schools to integrate STEM education into their curricula.
The Director-General and Education Minister believe that STEM education is critical to the development of the nation and are committed to ensuring that students in every part of the country have access to quality STEM education. They hope that their visit will inspire students and teachers in the Ashanti Region to embrace STEM education and work towards building a prosperous future for themselves and the nation as a whole.
