Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Education Minister of Ghana has impelled the Gaming Commission leadership to shutdown gaming centres around schools.
The Minister disclosed that, the Gaming Commission should hasten their steps in shutting down the betting companies situated close to schools.
Establishing companies near educational institutions according to his statement affects the academic works of school children hence, it must be closed for the safety of the school children since they are future leaders.
Further, he added saying the shutting down or relocating of the betting from educational institutions will reduce the rate at which children patronize the centres and eventually stop gaming as time flies by.
Backing his statements, he reminded them to act accordingly to the provisions stated in the Gaming Act 2006 (Act 721) which is about how they can operate in the country.
In recent times, the rate at which school children have been flooding gaming centres is alarming and needs a well calculated steps to curb such a disturbing act among school children.
