Felix Kwakye Ofosu criticizes Bawumia’s economic performance compared to Mahama

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, former Deputy Information Minister and a spokesman for former President John Mahama, has launched a scathing critique of the economic performance of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration.

Kwakye Ofosu dismissed any attempt to single out Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for praise, asserting that the entire government should be held accountable for its poor track record.

In response to consultant Kofi Bentil’s claims that Bawumia is more credible than Mahama, Kwakye Ofosu dismantled Bentil’s justifications, labeling them as deeply flawed and nonsensical. He argued that Bawumia’s economic performance paled in comparison to Mahama’s, citing statistics on GDP growth, inflation rates, and debt management.

Kwakye Ofosu highlighted Mahama’s achievements in economic growth and stability during his tenure, contrasting them with the current administration’s failures. He emphasized that Bawumia’s lack of presidency does not absolve him of accountability, and that pound for pound, Mahama performed better in economic matters.

The former Deputy Information Minister also criticized the government for unfulfilled promises and detrimental policies, pointing out the significant increase in debt under Bawumia’s watch and the depreciation of the currency.

Kwakye Ofosu urged the media and the public to scrutinize the government’s performance objectively and to conduct a fair assessment of the NDC’s achievements. He cautioned against perpetuating biases and downplaying Mahama’s successes in favor of a failing administration.

Mr. Bentil had clarified that his endorsement of Dr. Bawumia was in his personal capacity and should not be associated with his relations with IMANI Africa, and he was not speaking on behalf of IMANI.
