Reports available to Coverghana.com.gh has confirmed that, a Ghana National Fire Service Truck has collided with Hyundai Elantra leaving two persons dead and one in critical condition.
On Sunday, 17th April, 2022 at 1419 hours, the Central Regional Command received a distress call reporting fire outbreak at Ankaful-fie, so the firefighting crew were dispatched to the scene.
As they proceeded with the blaring siren and air-horns on, a Hyundai Elantra with registration number CR 414-19 suddenly crossed the Fire Tender at a four-way intersection near Abura, Cape Coast. The Hyundai Elantra then hit a taxi cab that was heading in the opposite direction.
The Personnel who suffered minor injuries had to alight from the tender and rescue the other victims and rushed them to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, where two were unfortunately pronounced dead and one other in critical condition. Fortunately, the taxi driver and his taxi cab were not affected by the impact.
The Personnel were also treated and discharged, however the Ghana Police Service has taken over the investigation of the incident. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is however cooperating with the Police in this regard.
UCC firefighting Crew who were subsequently dispatched to respond to the fire at Ankaful-fie were made to stop for fire while enroute to the fire scene as news came in that the said fire had been extinguished by Residents.
Speedy recovery to the injured Crew and the one in critical condition. Our sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family.
