Five workers at the Tarkwa mining sector which is located at Akoon in the Tarkwa -Nsuaem Municipality have been reported dead.
It was reported that the workers were working in an underground restricted area at the mining sector when it accidentally collapsed on them killing them tragically and injured four others.
The tragic incident was reported to have happened on Wednesday, September 13. This was revealed by Mr. Kwadwo Sarfo, the Media and Public Relations Manager to Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Friday.
Two out of the four injured workers who were receiving treatment at the Tarkwa Municipal hospital have been discharged.
The subsequent information on the incident suggest that the five workers with other four workers decided to work around a pillar which they have noticed to contain gold under 6th level of the mine known as “Abease”, unfortunately it collapsed on the them killing five instantly and injured the other four.
