Foreign Minister and Chinese Ambassador inspects land for $30 Million Ultramodern market in Aflao
The Foreign Minister, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Tong Defa visited Aflao in the Volta Region to inspect the land allocated for a US$30 million ultramodern market project. This project is made possible through a grant from China and aims to significantly enhance the region’s economic infrastructure.
During the inspection, the Foreign Minister expressed deep gratitude to Togbui Adjongaga Amenya Fiti V, the Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, for the generous allocation of 159 acres of land for this priority project. The Minister also thanked Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and MP for Ketu South, along with other traditional leaders and the people of Aflao, for their incredible warmth and support.
The ultramodern market project is expected to have a transformative impact on Aflao, a historic trading enclave. Upon completion, it will boost ECOWAS trade, accelerate regional integration, and promote the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area. Additionally, the project will create massive job opportunities, thereby contributing to the local economy’s growth and development.

The Foreign Minister highlighted that President Mahama’s administration is committed to keeping its promises, and this project is a testament to that commitment. The Minister concluded by expressing his delight in the progress made so far and his confidence in the project’s potential to bring about substantial benefits to the people of Aflao and beyond.
