Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the Leader and Flagbearer of the largest opposition political party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) has petitioned the Supreme Court of Ghana over the December 2020 Presidential election results.
The NDC’s Presidential Candidate has earlier directed his legal team members to file a petition on his behalf at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, 30th December, 2020 after the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has ratified his decision to contest the presidential election results.
According to Mr. Mahama, the Petition details serious violations of the 1992 Constitution by the Electoral Commission and seeks among others, a declaration that the purported declaration of the results of the 2020 Presidential Election on the 9th day of December 2020 is unconstitutional, null and void and of no effect whatsoever.
“My lawyers this afternoon filed before the Supreme Court, a petition challenging the results of the 2020 Presidential Election declared by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana.” He announced.
