In accordance with Article 179 (8) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 28 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister of Finance was in the Parliament of Ghana today, 23rd July, 2020 and presented the 2020 Mid-Year Review of the Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the Government of Ghana and Supplementary Estimate for the 2020 Financial Year.
The presentation is one his constitutional mandate on the Authority of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President of the Republic of Ghana.
The presentation was of the budget which took about three hours has been described by the Minority as a campaign message of the ruling New Patriotic Party for the 2020 December polls.
1. Right Honourable Speaker, on the authority of His Excellency, President Nana
Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, I beg to move that Honourable Members of this
august House approve the Mid-Year Review of the Budget Statement and
Economic Policy of the Government of Ghana and a Supplementary Estimate for
the 2020 Financial Year, I present today, 23rd July 2020.
2. Mr. Speaker, I am performing this function in accordance with Article 179 (8) of the 1992 Constitution, Standing Order 143 of this august House, as well as
Section 28 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
3. Mr. Speaker, I want to take this opportunity to thank God for the privilege and extend my appreciation to His Excellency the President for the opportunity to lead this important assignment of managing the public finances of this Country.
