Ghana FDA receives WHO-Prequalified Quality Control Laboratory Status Award
The FDA WHO-Prequalified Quality Control Laboratory (QCL)
The Drugs Laboratory at the Centre for Laboratory Services and Research (CLSR) of the Ghana Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has been awarded a World Health Organization (WHO)-Prequalified Quality Control Laboratory (QCL) Status.
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is a body established to ensure the safety, quality and efficacy of human and veterinary drugs, food, biological products, cosmetics, medical devices, household chemical substances and clinical trials and the control of tobacco products through the enforcement of relevant standards to protect public health.
The FDA is confident that by earning this achievement, the organization is now the first and only regulatory agency for food and drugs within the entire ECOWAS subregion to be recognized internationally as a competent institution that can test medicines and medical products under the auspices of the World Health Organization.
In this regard, the results of medicines tested by the FDA will therefore henceforth become acceptable to all countries.
