Management of the Ghana Fire Service (GFS) Headquarters has explained the exact cause of the Appiatse-Bogoso Explosion in the Western Region of Ghana.
In recounting the the devastating recent, the Ghana Fire Service administration said, just around 1230 hours this afternoon (Thursday, 20th January, 2022), there was an explosion involving a truck carrying explosives.
According to them, on reaching a town called Appiatse, near Bogoso, a tricycle otherwise known as “pragyia” crossed it resulting in an accident.
The truck crashed and the explosives on board detonated resulting in a conflagration and the collapse of a number of buildings.
The extensive fire caused considerable damage to several buildings and their contents in the Community. A number of people are feared dead.
They explained that, four (4) fire engines from Prestea, Tarkwa, Wassa Akropong and Asankragua were swiftly dispatched to the fire scene to save lives and properties.
Meanwhile, fire and explosion have since been contained. Search and rescue operations are currently underway. Stay tuned for updates on this unfortunate fire Incident.
